Strasbourg, France

So before I get to London and Ireland, I have to blog about Strasbourg and Regensburg. Strasbourg was awesome! It's pretty cool that we just decided to go to France for a day - 'we' being Kiersten, Kiersten's roommate Slawek, Slawek's best friend Tobi, and me. Slawek really wanted to see this cool phenomenon at the cathedral, where the light shines just right through a stained glass window and shoots green lights at Jesus's head (or something). We missed this event, though, because the light was right at 11:30, and the church was closed from 11:15 through 12:45. Oops.
Anyway, we explored, hung out, and had an awesome time. France is very different from Germany, even though we were in Alsace (which went back and forth between France and Germany at least 5 times). The French are way more into asthetics, while the Germans are much more practical. Also, since most of Germany was bombed-out after WWII, a lot of the buildings here are newer than in other countries, which is why Strasbourg looks much more european than a lot of German cities.

Here are some pictures:

The cathedral dominates the city!

Seriously, it's huge. Slawek is on the left, and Tobi is on the right.

Quimper! It was all over in Strasbourg.

We climbed to the top of the cathedral. This is Slawek, Kiersten, and me at the top. Tobi took the picture.
